Brixton goes to GAZA

This week, we showcase Wayne Campbell’s Celebration of Demonstration, a raw, uncompromising gallery tucked into Market Row. Brixton-born photographer Wayne Campbell went to Palestine as a curious observer and came back a committed visual activist. Nine nights in the occupied territories changed him forever: “I cried and saw apartheid up close”. That unforgivable reality hit him like a gut punch, setting his life on a new course. Campbell realised his camera had to do more than document—it had to defend.

Back in Market Row, he converted a former print stall into Celebration of Demonstration. At this rallying point, walls scream with beautifully stark protest images that amplify marginalised voices from across London. Visitors arriving at adjacent spaces—craft coffee at Pop’s Espresso, handmade jewellery stalls, and vintage book corners—are drawn toward the gallery’s “Wall of Empathy,” where they’re invited to scrawl their pain and hope, turning emotion into collective action.
