Pride In Our Past: Lambeth’s ‘Share Your Pride’ Exhibition Honours LGBTQ+ Activism

In the spirit of Pride Month, Lambeth Archives has opened an exhibition called 'Share Your Pride' to celebrate and commemorate the local LGBTQ+ community’s journey. This free exhibit (open now through June 30) showcases decades of Lambeth Pride march photos, memorabilia, and personal stories, many contributed by residents themselves.

Lambeth hosted a dozen Pride marches in the 1980s and 1990s, including EuroPride and Black Pride, and this display channels that DIY, punk energy – from badges and tees to an audiovisual tapestry of memories. Curator Dan de la Motte says the exhibition “captures the anger, resilience, and ongoing fight” of the community, reminding everyone that Pride was born from protest and that the struggle isn’t over. One striking feature highlights Night Pride, the grassroots response to a 2023 hate crime, connecting past and present battles. More here
