After a year of writing about Brixton’s night-time economy, its identity crisis, and the people building here — I’ve landed on something.
Brixton has every ingredient of a cultural capital. Not Soho — that’s a destination, not a community. Not Shoreditch — the originals moved on and the brands moved in. Brixton is different. Venezuelan, Colombian, Nigerian, Ghanaian, Jamaican, Asian, Portuguese, Italian — all with real community presence, all trading, all living the culture, not just referencing it.
