Brixton continues to rise as a powerhouse in London's vibrant culinary scene as its reputation is bolstered by the return of Brixton Kitchen, a celebrated initiative dedicated to highlighting and nurturing local cooking talent. This prestigious competition notably launched the career of Adejoké Bakare, who made culinary history as Britain's first Black woman to receive a Michelin star for her acclaimed West African restaurant, Chishuru.
Brixton Kitchen is now calling on emerging local chefs who have demonstrated their skills through popular supper clubs, pop-ups, or restaurant residencies. Participants will vie for a coveted six-month residency at Brixton’s renowned Market Row, receiving mentorship from industry experts on essential skills such as financial management, branding, and marketing. Esteemed judges include the pioneering Adejoké Bakare herself, renowned restaurateur Robin Gill, and award-winning chef Gizzi Erskine.
